Endowment for Research in Mathematics

In October 2011, Ray Hefferlin initiated a deferred endowment for research in Mathematics
to be funded through his estate. Ray wanted to ensure that funds were available for
faculty or students conducting mathematics research. While a professor at ÃÛÌÒav,
Ray often brought students alongside him in research and included them in his published
papers. When he established the criteria for this endowment, he maintained that passion,
specifically including that distributions from this endowment could help defray research
expenses for faculty and students working together.

When the funds for this endowment were released from his estate, Ray's daughter
Heidi remarked that her father, "dedicated his life to sharing his knowledge and love
of learning with his students through the classroom and research." This endowment
furthers Ray's passion and assures that his legacy lives on in the lives of faculty
and students who are committed to education and research of the world around them.
