Morgan's Bluff - Field Ecology

This area is the highest point on North Andros, situated along the northeast coast at the tip of the island. It provides a spectacular view of both the Northeast and Northwest Providence channels, as well as the Tongue of the Ocean. Here, the deep blue water seamlessly transitions into the light turquoise of the lagoon, which is separated from the ocean by the Andros Great Barrier Reef.

This location is named after the famous buccaneer and pirate, Sir Henry Morgan. He utilized this elevated vantage point to strategize the capture of French and Spanish galleons that were loaded with treasures from the New World, bound for Europe. It is believed that he hid the spoils from his plunders in the caves located in this area.
