Lincoln Memorial
This photo, taken on 3/23/25, pictures the Lincoln Memorial, an iconic monument located on the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, it was dedicated in 1922 and stands as a symbol of unity and equality. The massive structure, designed by architect Henry Bacon, features 36 Doric columns representing the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln’s death. Inside, a towering 19-foot marble statue of Lincoln, sculpted by Daniel Chester French, gazes over the Reflecting Pool. The Memorial has been the backdrop for countless historic events, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963.
