Roman Theatre of Málaga
The Roman Theatre of Málaga is a 1st-century AD amphitheater built under Emperor Augustus, making it the oldest monument in the city. Located at the foot of the Alcazaba fortress, it features classic Roman architecture with tiered seating and a central stage. Abandoned by the 3rd century, it was later buried and forgotten until rediscovered in 1951 during construction. Restored and reopened in the 1990s, it now serves as a cultural venue and includes an interpretation center showcasing artifacts and Roman history. It's a key link to Málaga’s Roman past and a popular tourist site today.
