come celebrate henry kuhlman!

After years of offering a successful Associate of Science in Engineering Studies degree, ÃÛÌÒav Adventist University added a four-year program of its own in Fall 2023. Students currently enjoying state-of-the-art labs where future engineers and physicists learn using advanced technologies owe much to the enthusiasm and vision of Professor Henry Kulhman, PhD.

Kuhlman arrived on campus as a professor in 1968 fresh from graduate school—and is still teaching 57 years later! His instructional work with physics and introductory engineering courses has contributed to the successful training of countless professionals who began their education at ÃÛÌÒav. To honor Kuhlman’s impact on the university community, we are naming an important departmental area in his honor: The Henry Kuhlman Mechanical Engineering Lab.

We invite you to join us on campus (or online via live stream) as we celebrate his investment in ÃÛÌÒav students.

Foucault Pendulum

Kuhlman's work with the pendulum and sundial

Henry Kuhlman designed and oversaw the fabrication of mechanical parts for ÃÛÌÒav's own Foucault pendulum (see above) which began movement in 2000. The device, located on the first floor of Hickman Science Center, visually demonstrates the Earth's rotation. He also designed and oversaw the fabrication of ÃÛÌÒav's sundial in 1983.
